DNA testing through the American Kennel Club's DNA program for genetic identity, parentage, & health testing with the additional health kit. This testing program is helpful to the breed and club as AKC compiles data anonymously and can follow patterns in health results within the breed. Covers HUU, ECLE, coat genetics, and more.

UC Davis offers many tests including HUU, Genetic markers/parentage, Coat length, and Furnishings. They do not currently offer ECLE testing and all tests are purchased separately.

The veterinary genetics lab at University of Pennsylvania offers a standalone ECLE test as well as full genome sequencing for Wirehaired Vizslas. 

The OFA, working with the breed's parent club, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock. Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements will be issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers.

Antech PennHIP testing provides an estimate of the risk for painful osteoarthritis (OA) of canine hip dysplasia (CHD) later in life. With this information, the PennHIP-trained veterinarian can recommend preventive and palliative strategies. The test is accurate in dogs as young as 16 weeks of age.
